Heeresgeschichtliches Museum
By separate transport including ebike, scooter, foot, we arrive and meet at this unpronounceable place. A great museum, we crash in exhaustion and fail to see FF’s car. Must come back!

We head out for a 20+km ride to Ottakring and the Wienerwald, stopping en route at Ernst Fuchs Villa. This was amazing, an upgrading of the neglected house of Otto Wagner.
Mungo shows the world and Hundertwasser her great new ebike, just delivered by Dance. Next day, Sunday, I take the U6 down to Alterlaa (where the amazing social housing is) and head out to the woods from the station.
Thanks to an alert from my German teacher, we go with Reggie to the SommerKonzert at Schönbrunn with the VSO and 65,000 others. A magnificent light show, with rain holding off until the end.
After the morning’s German course I head off to the Albertiner, where the Edvard Munch is drawing to a close. Some stunning paintings await me, as also busts. In the evening we meet up with Reggie at Heurige Muth, Nussdorf.
We meet Reggie at Pizzeria Scarabocchio. She has come up from Kärnten, mainly to go to a Salsa concert at the Wiener Konzerthaus. The day before we went to the same place for a concert by Kathia Buniatishvili.
My first day allowed out after covid isolation, I arrive at Kanga by personal invitation to watch a famous model on the catwalk. Dangerous times indeed!
The birthday fun and games sadly end, we take a midday train directly back to Vienna. So much fun in Melk! And just 2 days later, after dinner at Heurige Muth, I turn blue and the covid test has one…
We explore the backroads with rented bikes. This is Mungo’s first time with an e-bike, she is definitely a natural! In the evening a delicious celebration at the Rathaus Keller, after bubbles, nibbles and amazing birthday prezzies in the secret…
Mungo keeps secret until the last moment where we are going for my birthday. Melk! First we take an early train to Krems, then a 3+ hour cruise upriver to Melk. Great fun! In the afternoon we visit Melk Abbey.
We take D to Nußdorf and then set off walking to and through the vineyards, stopping in 4 heurige. Stunning views, the best are Wieninger am Nußberg and Feuerwehr Wagner.
