Sachrang, Bavaria

Maria drives us to this village close to the Austrian border. I walk up to Wildbichlalm and back whilst the girls walk around the village. Lunch at the gasthaus. In the evening we go to the splendid wirthaus Felwies where…

Arrive in Bavaria

Morning spent rushing off to Mariahilfe Str to recover sunglasses left at Intersport, change sports shirt at Hervis, and visit H&Ms around Stephansdom. Catch 242pm train to Salzburg and Obersee, where Maria collects us. Brilliant tajin awaits in the evening,…

Trial separation

We elect to go separate ways. Mungo heads off for x-rays, passports and who knows what else. I use Moovit for first time and immediately take the wrong bus. After walking to Karlplatz head to Karntner Str but useless, so…

Schreiberhaus

Another slow day, crowned by the scraping of old paint from the deck table. But around 230pm we escaped by 35 bus to Neustift and this heurigen. Brilliant buntzen, punsch krapfen and florentiner in a beautiful garden. Such is life!

Quiet times

As Mungo’s leg plays up we take it easy. First coffee and nibbles in Kutscher Markt as Mungo picks up glasses and so on. Later I wander up to Turkenschanz and then enjoy spritzes at Diglas.

E-bike St Veit

John and I collect ebikes from Tourism office (Anna) and then ride to St Georgen am See. Visit the stift. Beautiful weather. Mungo meanwhile did an entrepreneur seminar with the Chamber of Commerce in Klagenfurt. Catch 139pm train to Vienna.

Segeln

Start walk with John, but we carry on to Schloss Hornstein when he heads back from a chapel. Beautiful walk through forest in stunning weather. After lunch we set out in John’s yacht. Although pretty windless to begin with, a…

Bike north east lake

Puff up the long slope from Neusach and reach the trail running along the lake. Keep going to Dolomiten Blick where arrive in time to catch the 1230 Alpensee, €12, back to Techendorf. Then hang around Tschacheleria until time to…

Großglockner!

Yes, the weather is just amazing, so we rush off via Heiligenblut to the lookout, after stopping off briefly at an old resto after the toll. We walk through the longest and dankest of tunnels to reach Franz-Joseph-Höhe path. Only…

Larry invites!

Yes, a true moment of history. Laurence insists on inviting us to lunch at Hotel Nagglerhof. A marvellous table in the sun overlooking the lake, and delicious food. Just sorry it all ended, and off went Larry on the train.…
